Following Young Carers Action Day (15th March), an important event all about Surrey’s young carers takes place on Thursday 16th March.

Called ‘Making Time for Young Carers in Surrey’, the online event is aimed at all those who work with young people and children in Surrey, and aims to raise the profile – and understanding – of the county’s 14,000+ young carers.

The event will share national and local perspectives of young carers’ needs, and support in schools and colleges, as well as looking at how best to improve their wellbeing and mental health.

Range of speakers

Taking place the day after Young Carers Action Day, the event is organised by the Surrey Carers Partnership Board (including Surrey NHS and SCC).

The event’s keynote speaker is Andy McGowan, Policy & Practice Manger, Young Carers, at Carers Trust, and also of the Young Carers Alliance. Representatives from Surrey Young Carers, part of Action for Carers Surrey, will also be speaking.

  • Young Carers in Surrey Schools – the Angel Award Scheme
  • Supporting Young/Young Adult Carers in Surrey Colleges
